The IRI Programme is possible thanks to the donor Governments that have generously contributed to the International Reconstruction Fund Facility for Iraq (IRFFI).
IRFFI was launched in early 2004 to ensure responsive and coordinated donor financing for near-term (2004) and medium-term (2005-2007) priority investments in Iraq. So far, 24 donors have pledged over $1 billion to the Trust Fund Facility for 2004 and 2005. Two trust funds make up the Trust Fund Facility – the World Bank Iraq Trust Fund and the United Nations Development Group (UNDG) Trust Fund.
Funds for the IRI Programme have been channelled through the UNDG Trust Fund were earmarked for Poverty Reduction and Human Development activities (Cluster 10) by the European Commission and the Government of Sweden.
